Description
An award winning reblooming Bearded Iris, ‘Speeding Again’ is a vigorous regal beauty displaying sweetly fragrant blue-violet blooms accented with white on its wavy falls. In mid to late spring and again in late summer to early fall, the gorgeous blossoms are born atop sturdy stems to 38 inches high above attractive clumps of sword-like foliage.
Note: Our container-grown bearded Iris can be planted in the garden year round! The Bearded Iris plants you receive from us were large #1 grade rhizomes we dug and planted last year so are now 2-year old fully rooted plants in their 1 gallon pot. The large size container-grown Irises we grow and ship are established plants that will more rapidly produce more new rhizomes during the first growing season after transplanting.
Landscape & Garden Uses
The Speeding Again Iris is ideal for planting in garden beds and landscape borders. Plant it close to patios, decks, porches and other outdoor sitting spaces where the beautiful and fragrant flowers can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to Iris gardens, purple or blue theme gardens, rock gardens, and cottage gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 18 to 24 inches apart for mass plantings; 4 feet or more apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Bearded Iris are easy to grow when planted right and in the right spot. Our container-grown iris can be planted year round! They will grow in most any average soil that is well drained and full sun to part shade. We suggest 6 or more hours of direct sunlight for best blooming. Constantly wet soil is a killer. Planting them on a slope or in raised beds helps to ensure good drainage. Mix in some composted organic matter to improve drainage in heavy clay soils.
When planting Bearded Iris, we suggest spacing plants at least 24 inches apart to allow for future spread of the plant.
