Description
A shimmering plant that will light up and provide soft texture in shady areas of the garden, Silver Mist Mondo grass forms compact evergreen mounds of thin, variegated dark green and creamy white leaves. The plant does produce short spikes of inconspicuous tiny soft lavender flowers followed by purple berries but this plant is more popular for its outstanding foliage. Very easy to grow and virtually no-maintenance, Silver Mist makes for an excellent border edger, groundcover or underplanting for small trees such as Japanese maples and is a fine accent in container gardens.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing about 8 to 12 inches tall and 12 to 18 inches wide, Silver Mist Mondo Grass is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces and container gardens or as a border edger along paths, walkways or landscape borders or as a groundcover for larger shade trees or underplanting for small trees such as Japanese maples. A fine addition to Asian gardens, rock gardens, shade gardens, white them gardens, woodland shade gardens, and ornamental grass gardens.
Suggested Spacing: 8 inches for quick fill; 12 inches if you have more patience

Growing Preferences
Mondo Grass is very easy to grow in most any moist but well-drained soil of average fertility and part shade to full shade. Morning and evening sun are okay but it’s best to avoid direct afternoon sunlight. All-day filtered sun is okay. Constantly soggy or wet soils can be problematic, though temporary flooding won’t harm the plant. Can be sheared or mowed annually but we rarely touch it.
