Description
October Magic Inspiration is one of our favorites in the October Magic Series. In fall, it produces an abundance of gorgeous, large white flowers some of which have a distinct, narrow, magenta-pink margins on ruffled petals. Prominent, golden stamens enhance the appeal of the flowers. The evergreen leaves are deep green through the year however new foliage in spring is maroon.
Landscape & Garden Uses
A smaller growing Camellia with an upright habit of growth to about 5 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide (depending on pruning), October Magic Inspiration can be grown as a shrub or small tree. As a shrub, it is ideal for use as a hedge or background plant, in groupings, or as a specimen and is especially nice as a corner plant or espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings. As this camellia grows taller lower branches can be removed to form a highly attractive small evergreen tree that serves well as a focal point specimen in landscape borders and home foundation plantings. A fine addition to camellia gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors during winter by those who live above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing: 3.5 feet apart for solid hedge; 8 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types however prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellia grows and blooms better in partial shade with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine.

My wife and I were very excited to get these Camellia. WilsonBrothers had one of largest collections of Camellia’s, I found on the internet. This is the first time I ordered any plants on the internet(not bare roots) I was surprised on how good shape the Camellia was in. The instructions were great and Wilson Bro had several white papers on the feeding and caring for the plants. I plan to buy additional Camellias layer in the spring.————————————————————————We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come!
